How to use gradient transform tool in flash 8

Double-click the right swatch to display the Color Picker. In the Color Picker, drag the Alpha slider down to zero. This creates a gradient from black to transparent, allowing the green background to show through the edge of the circle you just drew. Select the Gradient Transform tool from the Tools panel and drag the Focal Point control of the gradient back to the center of the circle.

The gradient still needs to be scaled and rotated, though, and you will use the Fill Transform tool for that purpose.

Select the Fill Transform tool from the Tools panel and click the gradient fill in your rectangle. A series of control handles appear. Convert the rectangle to a graphic symbol and move it onto the Stage directly under title. Using the Selection tool, make sure that the entire rectangle is selected. Because you drew this graphic in the Object Drawing model, you need to click it only once double-clicking it puts you into edit-in-place mode.

Name the new symbol grBar. In the Property inspector, place the symbol instance at 0 for x and for y , which puts it just below the title. In the library, drag the symbol grBar into the graphics folder, just to stay neat and organized. Any time you select a symbol, an object drawn In the Object Drawing model, or a grouped item, you see a blue outline, indicating that the item is selected. This is referred to as a bounding box. Open the grMenuGraphic symbol from the graphics folder in the library.

Fill the shape on the gradient layer with a linear gradient. Double-click the graphics library folder icon and then double-click the icon for grMenuGraphic to enter symbol-editing mode. You need to zoom in on the graphic, either with the Zoom tool or with the Zoom options in the edit bar.

Right- or Control-click on the gradient layer in the Layers pane and select Lock Others from the context menu. This ensures that you are only editing the graphic on the gradient layer.

You use the same gradient that was used for the rectangle. Because you have not changed the fill type since the last exercise, you can select the Paint Bucket tool and click once on the shape in the gradient layer to apply the fill. Using the Fill Transform tool, rotate the gradient 90 degrees clockwise to make the gradient vertical.

Then resize the gradient to the same width of the shape. Move the circle that you created onto an empty part of the Stage and fill it with a radial gradient. Convert it to a symbol and then move it to its own layer. You made a circle in the first exercise, and it is used to create a glow behind the imported logo. The Object Drawing model allows you to draw shapes as separate objects that do not automatically merge together when you overlap them. This lets you to work with the shapes without changing them.

Previously in Flash, you had to draw each shape on its own layer to overlap shapes without changing them. Now Flash creates each shape as a separate object that you can individually manipulate. Make changes to the tolerance levels for smoothing or straightening, set the sensitivity for line and shape recognition, or fine-tune snapping.

You can exercise greater control over your drawing or allow Flash to perform corrections and adjustments as you draw. Click to view larger image. To create a radial gradient, choose the oval object and in the color mixer panel, choose Radial from the Type drop down menu and then double click on the color you want to change and change it using the color swatch or enter the color code.

Repeat this for the second color. You can also add as many colors as you like for gradients, by clicking anywhere in the gradient bar and adding a color see screenshot below. To remove a color, just drag the color of the panel. To create a linear gradient, follow the same steps as given above and choose Linear from the Type drop down menu. See the screenshot given below.
