Anyway dont waste your time on this post. We appreciate your patience. DLL missing or corrupt message - I cannot repair this!! I have tried the Repair option from the Vista installation disc but it makes no difference at all. I have tried booting with the disc in the drive, but not from the disc, as suggested by somebody, somewhere who found it worked for him!!! I can boot into Safe Mode perfectly OK. I have downloaded and installed VistBootPro but it hasn't helped at all Any ideas?

Also, make sure boot. Right now it looks like my harddrive was wiped. Those "-" and "--" directories don't lead anywhere.

I guess this means everything's already gone? Or would you think I could still have success recovering data files and documents using Ubuntu or PuppyLinux? If there was nothing in any of them then your probably correct, somehow your windows got wiped. I don't understand this as all your drives have something on them except windows. You can try Unbuntu but i don't think you will have any success in recovering any files since they do not show up now. Do you have an installation disk as I feel you are in for a reinstall?

If you click on that setup. Install or recovery disk since the OP used all the boot commands to try and repair windows. Might be it started to overwrite the original windows. Looking at the dates of what is left on C: they span 11 days, so many things could have happened. Oh my gosh! This sounds like the same thing that happened to mine, and on the same day.
