I did this sometime back and all the clocks on every server and workstation are the same, even the clocks on our desktop phones. The NTP Pools are good places to get the time sync in line. If I remember right we had a server that was off by quite a bit and the system instead of jolting the time to the correct time it slowed down the clock until it was the correct time. I believe it would pickup the speed if it was too slow as well.
After setting it up create an alias ntp. If you ever have to move it for whatever reason you won't have to change every single device later on. All other domain controllers sync their time to the PDC emulator and all other windows systems sync to the DC that authenticates their domain connection. My method in my previous post has kept everything synced on our network to the exact second, all devices change when the time changes on our cell phone's.
Been like that for a few months now. I tried what you mentioned numerous times and every time I'd query the source it would still say local system bios clock. I had to unregister and regester a few Dlls to no avail. Not to repeat the obvious. Running the following in a command prompt can tell you how far the current machine is off I am sure their is a way to do it in power shell but I have not gotten to that yet.
It turned out that the problem with our server time being off was related to our virtual setup. The problem was that our domain controllers are virtual, and although they were configured to use an external time server, the virtual server they were running on by default was overwriting the setting and syncing the time for the virtual domain controller.
This basically created a circle where the Virtual server would sync the time off a domain controller, but then the domain controller was being synced with the same virtual server, and nobody was actually making an external connection to a time server.
